Lethal Company is a cooperative survival horror game where up to four players take on the role of Halden Electronics employees tasked with scavenging abandoned industrial moons. Each moon is procedurally generated, filled with labyrinthine complexes, hostile environments, and lurking monsters. Players must collect valuable scrap and return it to their ship before the in-game deadline of three days. Failing to meet the quota leads to a dire consequence: permanent dismissal into open space.
The gameplay emphasizes teamwork, as players must navigate complex facilities while avoiding traps and deadly creatures. Each player has a limited inventory of four slots, and collected items have weight, affecting movement speed. Players can invest earnings in equipment like flashlights or emergency ship horns to aid in their missions. The game features spatial voice chat, allowing for immersive communication. One player can remain on the ship to monitor the map, locate monsters, and assist with opening locked doors or disabling security systems.
Lethal Company offers a variety of moons with different difficulty levels, each requiring an entry fee in in-game currency. These moons feature underground complexes with randomized layouts, weather conditions, and enemy placements. Players encounter various monster types, some resembling “weeping angels” that move only when not being observed. These creatures are sensitive to sound, including players’ voices, adding to the tension. Navigating these dark, hostile environments demands careful planning and effective use of limited resources.
